The noodles like strands of Vermicelli are used in a number of dishes including a variation of kheer, a sweet dessert similar to rice pudding. Vermicelli are also used in many parts of India to make a popular dish called upma.

Semolina commonly know as 'Sooji' in India is made from wheat. Semolina is produced from milling of wheat. Semolina is made from the endosperm which makes up about 83-87 per cent of the wheat kernel and is composed of starch and protein.

Semolina is used for making pasta, breakfast cereals, puddings etc. In India kitchens, semolina is used for preparing tasty dishes like 'Sooji ka Halwa', 'Upma', 'Uttapam' and many more.
